Who runs the site

Space Hobo is operated by an independent developer based in Iowa, United States. For questions or privacy requests, email hello@spacehobogame.com.

Joining and leaving the mailing list

At signup, the news checkbox is selected by default. You can uncheck it. Your choice takes effect when you verify your account email; verified users can subscribe directly in their profile. Guests confirm by email. We retain your encrypted email, choice and confirmation times, and consent wording.

Unconfirmed guest entries expire after 30 days. Account-linked entries stay with the account. Confirmed subscriptions remain until you unsubscribe, request deletion or the list closes. You can unsubscribe using a private email link or request deletion at any time by emailing hello@spacehobogame.com. Withdrawal does not affect earlier lawful processing.

Email confirmation and unsubscribe links expire after 24 hours; opening them does not change your choice. Verified users can subscribe or unsubscribe directly in their profile. We retain an encrypted address and keyed lookup to honor opt-outs. Account creation never overrides an existing unsubscribe.

Your account and profile

Space Hobo ID stores your email address, display name, a protected password hash and account security records so you can sign in to the website and launcher. News emails are optional. Your website picture and bio are private to you; you can change, export or remove them from your profile.

Deleting your account signs out your devices and automatically removes your website picture and bio. Account details are erased after a 30-day recovery period; you can restore the account during that period, but a deleted picture or bio is not restored. Protected backups expire on their normal retention schedule. Contact hello@spacehobogame.com for access or deletion requests.

Website security and browser preferences

Cloudflare processes connection information, such as your IP address, browser details and requests, to deliver the site and protect it from abuse. Its bot protection may set the __cf_bm cookie, which expires after 30 minutes of inactivity. See Cloudflare's cookie documentation.

Our mailing-list service stores hashed request-limit records rather than raw IP addresses. These limits expire after two minutes and are cleaned in bounded batches during requests. Expired confirmation links and abandoned guest entries are cleaned automatically. Account email delivery is also rate limited. Your browser stores preferences such as music settings and scroll position; you can clear them in your browser settings.

Where data is processed

We operate in the United States. Our hosting and email services may process information in the United States and other countries, outside your home country. Contact hello@spacehobogame.com for information about the providers and safeguards that apply to your information.

Your rights

You can ask to access, correct or delete your personal information by emailing hello@spacehobogame.com; we may need to confirm that the information belongs to you. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights, including withdrawing consent or objecting to processing. EU users may also complain to their local data protection regulator.

Children

Anyone may browse the website. Account and mailing list signup are for ages 13 and up. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information, contact hello@spacehobogame.com so we can remove it.

Changes

We will update the date on this page when this notice changes and provide clear notice of significant changes. Where required, we will ask for consent before a change applies.
